The UP System Quality Assurance, through the UP QA Capability Building Committee, held the UP CU QA Staff Capability Building Workshop on May 28–29, 2025, in Quezon City. The event covered key topics such as the UP QA System overview, project management, internal quality assurance and iAADS, the UP QA Portal, the external review process, and QA data management. Attended by QA staff from the eight UP Constituent Universities and one college, the workshop aimed to strengthen institutional capacity in quality assurance practices across the UP System. The UP System QA, through the QA Capability Building Committee, continues its initiatives to enhance quality assurance within the University by conducting the third batch of the EQA Clinic at UP Open University on May 1-16, 2025. Faculty members from various degree programs at UP Baguio, UP Los Baños, and UP Open University participated in the clinic, where they were given the opportunity to seek assistance from the UP System QA in planning their SAR writing, conducting EQA reviews, and organizing post-EQA activities. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) has been awarded Level 4 Accreditation by the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU), the highest distinction in the AAOU Accreditation System. This recognition, which coincides with UPOU's 30th anniversary, underscores the institution's leadership in open and distance education and its commitment to providing high-quality, accessible learning opportunities both domestically and internationally. The accreditation follows a rigorous evaluation process conducted from November 5 to 7, 2024, organized by the UPOU Quality Assurance Office (QAO), which assessed the university's adherence to global standards in the field. The AAOU Accreditation Team, chaired by Prof. Kam Cheong Li of Hong Kong Metropolitan University, commended UPOU's strengths and offered recommendations for further development. From January 14 to 16, 2025, the University of the Philippines Baguio underwent the 432nd ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Programme Assessment, successfully evaluating its BS Computer Science, BS Physics, MS Mathematics, and Master of Management programs. The AUN-QA assessment aims to ensure that academic programs meet rigorous international quality standards, fostering excellence and enhancing global competitiveness among ASEAN universities. This achievement highlights UP Baguio's dedication to providing a world-class education that aligns with these global benchmarks. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has exempted the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila and UP Los Baños (UPLB) from the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) requirement due to their exemplary quality assurance systems. The COPC ensures that higher education institutions (HEIs) meet national and international standards for licensure examinations and workforce readiness. CHED's decision follows strengthened enforcement of quality assurance in collaboration with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). CHED Chairperson J. Prospero de Vera III praised UP Manila and UPLB for their leadership in quality assurance, setting a benchmark for other state universities. The exemption covers multiple degree programs in medicine, engineering, agriculture, and health sciences. Members of the UP System QA Committee, along with other UP faculty, are attending the AUN-QA International Conference 2024 at Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from December 11 to 12, 2024. The conference brings together experts and educators to discuss advancements in quality assurance in higher education, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
With the theme “Innovating ASEAN Higher Education: Embracing AI Integration, Database Utilization and Future-Ready Quality Culture”, the conference explored insights and good practices that align with the evolving landscape of higher education in the region. December 2024
The UP System Quality Assurance (QA) Committee held a 3-day Strategic Planning Workshop last April 25-27, 2024 at the Summit Hotel, San Juan City.
The event aims to outline the plans of the System and the Constituent Universities for the next three years (2024-2027). All projects and initiatives are aligned with the 2023-2029 Strategic Plan of President Angelo A. Jimenez's administration.
The committee identified plans and projects that will help in the enhancement and continued development of quality assurance within the University. April 29, 2024

The UP System Ad Hoc Committee on QA Capability Building (QACB) and the UP Diliman Quality Assurance Office (UPD QAO) held a series of SAR Writing Preparation Workshops for 222 UPD Faculty. Three batches of workshops were held to provide support to the various degree-granting units of UP Diliman in support of its goal to have a 100% SAR submission for all its undergraduate program by the end of 2024. From June 11-13, 2024, the University of the Philippines Visayas and the University of the Philippines Mindanao successfully concluded the 392nd ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Assessment for their degree programs. UP Visayas had its BS Biology and BS Public Health programs evaluated, while UP Mindanao's BS Biology and BS Computer Science programs underwent the assessment. The UP Diliman Quality Assurance Office (UPD QAO) is celebrating its Quality Assurance week on April 29 - May 3, 2024.
They are conducting various activities for UPD Faculty and Staff to increase Quality Assurance awareness within the CU. The opening celebration was held last April 29, 2024 at the malcolm Hall Auditorium and a closing program will be held on May 3, 2024 at the School of Economics. May 7, 2024.
In a bid to uphold academic excellence, the University of the Philippines Tacloban College (UPTC) inaugurated its 'Orientation to Quality Assurance in Higher Education' project on March 20, 2024, at the Leyte Samar Heritage Center.
The initiative, geared towards faculty, staff, and students, aims to underscore the significance of quality assurance in maintaining the institution's stellar academic reputation. Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs (Quality Assurance) Alyssa M. Peleo-Alampay joined UPTC Dean Patricia Arinto, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Irene Tan, Division QA Officers, and Program Coordinators who will collaborate in drafting comprehensive QA plans vital for sustaining educational standards amidst evolving landscapes.

UPLB's BS Nutrition, BS Forestry, and BS Biology undergraduate degree programs recently underwent the AUN-QA program assessment last March 12-14, 2024. The program assessments aimed to validate the adherence of these programs to international standards of excellence in education and curriculum development. The University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) has completed a three-day assessment by the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) of four of its degree programs.
The AUN-QA assessment team visited UPD from November 21-23, 2023 to evaluate the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management, Master of Science in Food Science, and Bachelor of Science in Tourism. The team conducted interviews with faculty members, students, and alumni, and also reviewed the programs' curriculum, facilities, and resources.
The University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) recently held the External Quality Assessment (EQA) of three degree programs: Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business Management and Entrepreneurship (BS ABME), Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics (BS AAE), and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BS CS). The EQA was conducted from November 15-17, 2023, and involved a panel of experts from different institutions who assessed the programs' strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT).
The EQA panel commended the three programs for their strong faculty, well-equipped facilities, and relevant curriculum. They also noted the programs' commitment to research and extension, as well as their strong alumni network.
In partnership with the Philippine Accrediting Association for Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU), the UP System QA held a free webinar for the UP QA community on November 7, 2023. The webinar titled "Navigating PAASCU Accreditation Standards, Procedures, and Best Practices" featured Mr. Ricardo Palo, PAASCU Executive Director, and Dr. Cecile Gutierez, PAASCU Graduate Education Commission Chair.
The UP System Quality Assurance Office (UP System QA) organized the UP External Reviewers Training from November 13 to 17, 2023, at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). This training aimed to equip Quality Officers and faculty members from various UP Constituent Universities (CUs) with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively conduct external quality assurance (EQA) reviews.
The UP Diliman Quality Assurance Office formally launched its third-year anniversary celebration last August 2, 2023.
