UP AADS is renamed UP Quality Assurance System

The UP Academic Assessment and Development (AAD) System is renamed as the UP Quality Assurance System. The approval of President Danilo L. Concepcion of the recommendation of the President's Advisory Council (PAC) to rename the AADS is announced through OVPAA Memo no. 2021-133.

AUN-QA Programme Assessment at UP Los Baños and UP Visayas

The BS Agricultural Biotechnology, BS Food Science and Technology and BS Economics of UPLB and the BS Fisheries of UPV went through the AUN-QA Programme Assessment on November 21-25, 2022. The assessment was successfully conducted online. This is the first AUN-QA Programme Assessment for UPV. UPV Chancellor Clement C. Camposano and UPLB Chancellor Jose V. Camacho welcomed the assessor teams and the AUN-QA Secretariat in the opening sessions which the CUs conducted separately. The assessor teams conducted stakeholder interviews and toured the campuses virtually. Chief Assessor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ornsiri Cheunsuang and VPAA Cynthia Rose Bautista then closed the weeklong assessment after the presentation of preliminary findings on November 25th.

December 2022

AUN-QA Programme Assessment at UP Baguio and UP Diliman

The 291st AUN-QA Programme Assessment of BS Mathematics, BS Management Economics of UP Baguio and BS Statistics of UP Diliman was conducted online from 29 August to 2 September 2022. The weeklong assessment saw the opening session, remote visits to the UPB and UPD campuses and interviews of stakeholders, then culminating in the closing session. Both opening and closing sessions were hosted by AVPPA Wendell Capili and attended by UP officials led by VPAA Cynthia Rose B. Bautista, AVPAA Alyssa M. Peleo-Alampay, UPB Chancellor Corazon L. Abansi and UPD Chancellor Fidel R. Nemenzo. The programs now anticipate the results of the assessment.

 

Following this, UPLB's BS Agricultural Biotechnology, BS Food Science, BS Economics and UPV's BS Fisheries will also be undergoing the AUN-QA Programme Assessment in November.

The OVPAA, through Memo no. 2021-151, has released the UP QA Benchmarking Guidelines. Benchmarking is a quality process that involves a comparison of a degree program’s standards and performance across several academic years, with that of other UP academic units or peer universities here and abroad. The Guidelines outline the different types of benchmarking activities degree programs may engage in, and the processes and steps entailed.

EQA Webinar

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) and the UP System Ad Hoc Committee on Quality Assurance Capability Building (QACB) organized the “External Quality Assurance (EQA) Webinar” on 25 April 2022. VPAA Cynthia Bautista delivered the welcome remarks. AVPAA Alyssa M. Peleo-Alampay gave an overview of External QA and the types of UP EQA. Dr. Monet M. Loquias (UPM), Dr. Erneleo A. Cao (UPD), Dr. Jovencio A. Abalos (UPLB), Dr. Portia G. Lapitan (Ret. Prof., UPLB) and Dr. Nina M. Cadiz (UPLB QAO Director), shared their experience in undergoing various external assessments. The Webinar was hosted by the members of the Ad Hoc Committee, Dr. Aura C. Matias of UPD and Assoc. Prof. Ma. Rowena D.R. Raymundo of UPOU. Post-IQA and EQA Forum

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) conducted the “Ano ang gamit ng iAADS at SAR? A Post-IQA and EQA Forum” on 13 December 2021. The Forum was graced by the presence of the following speakers: Dr. Jose Balmaceda, who talked about the iAADS Instrument; Dr. Irene Villasenor, who discussed about the Post-Assessment Procedure for IQA; and Dr. Alyssa M. Peleo-Alampay, who discussed about the Post-Assessment Procedure for EQA. VPAA Cynthia Bautista delivered the opening and closing remarks. The AUN-QA will be opening registration for the 9th AUN-QA Tier 1 Training to be held in Bangkok! Training period is from 17-20 October 2022. Registration will run from 15 August to 1 September 2022. Visit the AUN-QA's Facebook page for updates.

The OVPAA, through Memo no. 2021-156, has released the Guide for External Quality Assurance

This version features modifications and the inclusion of post-assessment and renewal of assessment or accreditation to the EQA process flow. Furthermore, funding options for the conduct of EQA is elaborated, including  the engagement of reviewers/assessors through the expanded guidelines of the Visiting Professor Program (VPP). It also provides links to other QA materials, forms and templates that may be helpful in the conduct of EQA.

The INQAAHE Forum 2022 will be held on June 6-9 in Mexico City with the theme, "Sustainable Quality Assurance: Optimizing Synergies between Artificial and Human Intelligence". According to their website, the Forum will tackle "current and future trends and challenges" pertaining to QA, as well as develop new ideas and share practices on Capacity Building Through Investing in People, the Impact of Data, Technology and AI on QA Policies and Processes, and Optimizing Synergies between Artificial and Human Intelligence" (2022). The OVPAA will be conducting the "UP Self-Assessment Report (SAR) Writing Workshop" from June 27-29, July 6, 13, 18-19, 2022. The online workshop will help UP SAR writers complete their SAR and identify appropriate evidences supporting the performance criteria (based on the AUN-QA Program Assessment Framework). The workshop is open to all UP SAR writers whose SARs are at least 70% complete. Pre-register until June 17 by clicking here.

The External Quality Assurance Webinar

The External Quality Assurance (EQA) webinar aims to guide UP faculty on the process of implementing external quality assurance in their respective academic units. EQA in UP involves the writing of the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) which will be used for the external review/assessment/accreditation of the degree program. Call for Papers: AIMS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE (AIC) 2021

The 1st AIMS International Conference (AIC 2021) will be held at the Expo 2020 Dubai UAE and virtually (via an online platform) on 17th December 2021. The AUN-QA conducted the 1st batch of the "Writing Self-Assessment Report (SAR) for Successful AUN-QA Programme Assessment (Version 4.0)" on July 26 - August 5, 2021 online. The objectives of the workshop were:
  • Define the AUN-QA Programme Assessment (Version 4.0) SAR Requirements
  • Apply the “3-What” process to write the 53 requirements of the 8 AUN-QA criteria
  • Review the 53 requirements of the 8 AUN-QA criteria.

Smooth recognition of academic qualifications: The role of quality assurance

"This webinar will look into the role of internal quality assurance in ensuring the smooth recognition of academic qualifications from abroad by drawing on the experience of two countries: Germany and Spain.
